SiouxFalls.Business: National KidStrong business expanding to Sioux Falls

The signs on the walls are big and bold — “I am strong. I am brave, I can do this!”

KidStrong Sioux Falls opened in December 2025 at Lake Lorraine, the first South Dakota franchise. Owner Jonelle Clow was a KidStrong parent in Arizona prior to moving to Sioux Falls. When she was looking to transfer her daughter into activities, there was nothing like KidStrong.

“KidStrong is the whole kid,” Clow said. “The biggest thing it helps with is confidence. It’s very physical and that’s why I started it with my daughter because she’s a mover.”

The reason Clow wanted to bring KidStrong to Sioux Falls is the same reason the CEOs started it — they wanted something for their kids that didn’t exist where they were, so they created it. Clow saw the difference in her daughter and wanted to continue that when her family moved to Sioux Falls.

KidStrong membership includes one 45-minute class per week. The curriculum focuses on three pillars: character, physical and cognitive. Highly trained coaches help kids become resilient, confident and strong. The curriculum was designed by child development experts to improve emotional, physical and mental skills. Skills are developed at appropriate times to allow kids to win at life‚ unlock new responsibilities and celebrate progress along the way.

  • 96% of kids see an increase in self-confidence

  • 99% of parents notice social skills improvement

  • 85% of kids say it’s more fun than other programs

Parents join their kids on the floor for classes for walking to 4 year-old. They can also watch the classes or take advantage of the shopping and services available at Lake Lorraine. Some people see it as a kids gym, but Clow said it is much more than that.

“For example, I’m strong, I’m brave, I can do this — there’s affirmation every class. Science shows that kids learn when they move their bodies. They do little activities to learn. Pretend to order food in a restaurant. Get them in front of a group and answer questions , which works on public speaking. Eye contact, assertiveness. I was really impressed with it.”

Sioux Falls is small compared to Phoenix. Clow grew up in a small town in northwest Minnesota and wanted to raise her daughter in the Midwest so they moved back to the Midwest. Her family calls the east side of Sioux Falls home, but Lake Lorraine on the city’s westside was the perfect spot for KidStrong, she said.

Lake Lorraine is a growing area and family-oriented, she said, and fit the demographic that the franchise wanted. Clow said she’s big on KidStrong’s mission: helping kids to believe in themselves.

“I’m really passionate about kids and their future and the future of the world. When my daughter joined KidStrong, I really saw the difference. I wanted to share hit here.”
