Lake Lorraine: Shop local and support area farmers, crafters and more!

The Lake Lorraine Farmers Market provides a marketplace for producers to make their products available to the Sioux Falls area. This is one of the few weekday markets in the area.

The goal of the Lake Lorraine Farmers Market is to bring the community to Lake Lorraine and to promote and encourage the development of local small scale agricultural and specialty products. Its first season was 2019 and started small in a parking lot on the west side of the development. In 2020 the market moved to the east side of the lake, where it remains, and added more vendors.

The market is a mix of vendors, most of whom attend each weekly market. There’s also unique products that you won’t find at any of the development’s brick-and-mortar stores. And occasionally, you’ll have the chance to learn more about those shops when they attend the farmers market.

The LLFM is organized and managed by Friessen Development, Inc. FDI representatives usually attend every market to share information about the Lake Lorraine development and assist with set-up.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • This is a diverse market with vendors selling primarily homemade products. Because the market takes place within a retail area, we do not accept vendors who offer the same products or services available as the brick-and-mortar businesses at Lake Lorraine.

  • Vendors are responsible for their own personal liability and product liability insurance.

  • Vendors are required to provide FDI a certificate of insurance with their application.

  • Vendors are required to comply with South Dakota sales tax law and public health regulations governing the preparation, handling and presentation of food. If you have any questions about food safety requirements, contact the City of Sioux Falls: 605.367.8760. Here is more information about State requirements for food vendors.

  • FDI asks vendors to commit to the entire season or a regular schedule (every other week, for example). Vendors may join the market later in the season depending on space availability or the products you’re selling.

  • FDI aims to create a market with a variety of items for farmers market customers. Returning vendors have first right of refusal.
