Farmers Market opens this Thursday

A new west side farmers market will open this week at the Lake Lorraine development. It will be held Thursdays from 4-7 p.m. on the west side of Lake Lorraine (in the south side of the parking lot of the Marion Road shops).

A variety of vendors offering everything from meat to potted vegetable plants to fresh vegetables to Pampered Chef tools will be available at the weekly market.

Learn more about the vendors here. Different activities may take place in conjunction with the markets each week. Follow the Facebook events to stay up-to-date.

In addition to the market, several Lake Lorraine businesses are offering other reasons to stick around on Thursday evenings; here’s some deals for the first market:

  • The SandBar and Grill hosts live music on the patio every Thursday (and Wednesdays, too) from 6:30-9:30 p.m.

  • Anytime Fitness is holding a free circuit group training class in conjunction with the market each week. It will take place from 5:15-5:45 p.m. with limited spaces.

  • Love Marlow is offering a 10% Farmers Market discount on Thursdays.

  • Smallcakes Cupcakery and Creamery is offering all cupcakes for $3 from 4-7 p.m. during the market.

The idea for a farmers market at Lake Lorraine has been brewing for a while. This is the first farmers market to be located on the west side of Sioux Falls. Developers hope to appeal to west side residents on their evening commutes, as well as the shoppers and employees at Lake Lorraine.

The market is intentionally starting off the market small and delayed our opening date because of the slower start to the planting season. The Lake Lorraine Farmers Market will grow along with the Lake Lorraine development.

There is space for additional vendors. See the application here.
