Urban Thread to open Sept. 12
Urban Thread is at 2564 S. Lorraine Pl.
Jennifer and Maysa Kruse are partners in Urban Thread, a vintage, new and used clothing and goods exchange shop at Lake Lorraine.
The mother-daughter team of Jennifer and Maysa Kruse are opening Urban Thread, a vintage, new and used clothing and goods exchange shop at Lake Lorraine. It is on the east side of the development at 2564 S. Lorraine Pl.
Opening day is Friday, Sept. 12. Store hours are Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
The storefront features 1800 square feet of curated items from vintage to upscale clothing and furniture and home décor. The Kruses have been doing this on the side for a while but wanted to open a brick-and-mortar store. Jennifer spent 25 years in the healthcare field and Maysa was interested in opening a clothing store. They decided to go into business together as equal partners and combine their love of clothing and décor.
“Some décor is new, and we also have used, upcycled and vintage, too,” Jennifer said. They’re open to working with artists who could bring in repurposed décor to consign, too.
Lake Lorraine’s location made sense, they said. The traffic, surrounding shops and easy parking were exactly what they were looking for. Urban Thread had a booth at a recent Lake Lorraine Farmers Market to share some of the items they’ll include inside the store.
“We want to show people you can use old things and make it all look new,” Jennifer said.
The Kruses work with several buyers in larger markets and will also accept local consignments. For more information, see their website and follow Urban Thread on Facebook and Instagram.
