Celebrate Halloween — visit local decorated houses

Love Halloween? Check out the Lake Lorraine Haunted House Decorating Contest Entrants!

We put the call out and a number of Halloween enthusiasts responded! Visiting the houses in person is a great family or date night activity over Halloween weekend.

See the announcement of our winning homes on Oct. 28 on our Facebook page. Winners receive gift baskets with fun items from Lake Lorraine businesses.

The list of 2022 Haunted House Entries is below; they are arranged in a roundtrip route that starts and ends at Lake Lorraine. If you drive by all the entries, it will take approximately 90 minutes. Submitted photos of the homes can be found below — but a photo doesn’t always do justice to the creativity used by the entrant!

The inspiration for this event…

Remember “Christmas Lanes” and how families would hop in the car and drive around to see how people decorated their homes for the holidays? In recent years, we’ve noticed a surge of cool Halloween-themed decorated homes. We wanted to promote a fun, safe way for families to celebrate Halloween — and to showcase those decorated homes! We look forward to growing this event in the years ahead. This is the third year that Lake Lorraine businesses have held the contest.
