Meagan Donovan with Anytime Fitness Sioux Falls West received the Patriot Award from the South Dakota Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR).

The Patriot Award reflects the efforts made to support citizen warriors through a wide-range of measures including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families, and granting leaves of absence if needed. An employee serving in the National Guard or Reserve, or the spouse of a Guard or Reserve member, may nominate individual supervisors and bosses for support provided directly to the nominating Service member and his or her family.

Patriot Awards are awarded to individual supervisors, not to an entire staff or organization as a whole. Donovan was nominated by Jordan Kent, who was the general manager of Anytime Fitness as well as a member of the National Guard.

Brian Vognild presented the award to Donovan on behalf of ESGR. Vognild is a retired Air Force member and volunteer with ESGR. He’s also part of the Friessen family, which is developing the Lake Lorraine lifestyle center.

Donovan shared on Facebook:

I was very honored to receive the Patriot Award from the SD ESGR. I was nominated by Jordan Kent before he passed away. Jordan loved surprising people with little gifts to lift their spirits, and this couldn’t have came at a better time The Patriot Award is given to the supervisors that are super supportive and flexible for National Guard members in their civilian jobs!
