Leave a gift for a child in need

This holiday season, shoppers are encouraged to share Christmas cheer by purchasing gifts for The Salvation Army of Sioux Falls Angel Tree toy drive. These gifts are distributed to children in need in Minnehaha and Lincoln counties. Several Angel Trees are located throughout the Sioux Falls area, including at Security National Bank branches.

How you can help:

Between now and Thursday, Dec. 16, place an unwrapped Christmas gift suitable for children age 12 or younger underneath an Angel Tree in the lobby of your nearest SNB of South Dakota branch — including the Security National Bank branch at 4621 W. 26th St., just north of Lake Lorraine

Below are gift suggestions, provided by the Salvation Army:

Main gift suggestions: Riding toys, tricycles, wagons, developmental/learning toys, building and block sets, action vehicles/cars/trucks, age appropriate baby dolls, books (series), action figure sets, fire engines, trains, scooters, skateboards, sports equipment, drawing/painting sets, musical instruments, remote control cars, STEM kits, and microscope/science sets. For older kids - personal or bedroom accessories, age appropriate hair care/personal items, legos, science or arts kits and anything electronic.

Brands to consider: Fisher Price, Playskool, Sesame Street, LOL Surprise, Tonka, Disney, Hatchanimals, MatchBox, Barbie, Lego, Star Wars, DC, & Marvel. Or your favorite retailers version of the same type of items made by the brands listed above.

Stocking stuffer items: personal care items, Matchbox cars, hair accessories, small games, art supplies??color book & crayons/drawing pad & colored pencils, small puzzle, single dolls, stuffed animals and branded items from Disney, Star Wars, Barbie, Marvel, DC, etc.

Family gift: Board games

The Salvation Army asks that main gifts be priced around the $25 range. That way, each child in a family receives a gift around the same price.
