Without Hobby Lobby, attracting the other new retailers that will open this month at Lake Lorraine would have been difficult if not impossible.
The store, which opened Monday, moved from 41st Street where it had done business since 1997. Lake Lorraine is between Interstate 29 and Marion Road, south of 26th Street.
“It was absolutely essential to get a critical mass out here,” co-developer Mike Van Buskirk said. “Hobby Lobby was instrumental in that. The size of them along with our other retailers finally gave us what we needed to put the entire project together.
